Chinese New Year

I experienced my first Chinese New Year celebration.   I learned that this is very different from the New Years we celebrated at the end of December.  The Chinese were celebrating the year 4709.  There are 12 symbols, one for each year and 2011/4709 is the year of the Rabbit.

I also learned that just like my mommy I was born in the year of the Tiger.

As part of the celebration it is custom to feed red envelopes to lions for good luck. And children also get red envelopes as gifts.  At this party I got my first red envelope and I also put a red envelope in the lion's mouth!

LJ - The Sign of the Tiger
Courageous, active, and self-assured.  Optimistic, passionate and independent. Rebellious, dynamic, and unpredictable. Quick tempered but considerate.  Affectionate but careless.  The Tiger is a natural born leader and symbolizes power, passion and daring.

People born in the Year of the Tiger are generally well liked because of their charming personalities.  Often, failing at a given task or being unproductive in his personal or professional life can cause a Tiger to experience a deep depression.  Criticism from loved ones can also generate this type of Tiger reaction.

Tigers are fond of competitions. They simply cannot pass up a challenge.  They may appear cool and are unpredictable, and it would be unwise to underestimate their reactions.  Natural  leaders, they have a strong sense of their own dignity.  They are intelligent, alert, and farsighted.  Good strategists and tacticians, they often have a hidden agenda.  As long as they do not risk their luck too often, and keep their restless nature under control, they will enjoy success and happiness.

People born in the Year of the Tiger are straightforward and uninhibited in nature. They will never give up no matter how frustrated they may become.  But, they are also full of suspicion and  sometimes will take hasty action.

They must be aware of how they react to and are affected by the consequences of their tempers.  They should take it a little easier and learn to pace themselves to keep active longer and to prevent early burnout.  They are blessed with flexibility and often recover quickly from illness or pain.

Some people born in the Year of the Tiger are gentle and full of sympathy.  They are kind, love babies and anything that arouses their imagination.  Others can be stubborn and selfish.  Generally speaking, people born in the Year of the Tiger are fond of playing, and full of enthusiasm and sentiment.  Some are  mercurial.  They can laugh happily one moment, and cry the next.  They will be optimistic, but at the next they will lose their heart totally.

People born in the Year of the Tiger take pride in being different than others, and generally illustrate their originality best in their homes.  Their homes are usually filled with exotic treasures.  They are fast learners, need challenge and often work alone.  Some tend to change careers more often because they get bored easily.  They are natural born leaders and perform best if working towards positions of power and influence.  They like to spend money, and also to share it.  They can be quite impulsive spenders because they know they can always make more.

It is interesting that their two main features are rashness and hesitation, a pair of contradictions. If they know how to relax and do things according to the situation, they can become quite successful.

Christmas and New Years

Wow there is this other holiday called Christmas.  Christmas is amazing I got to celebrate Jesus birth with my family two days in a row.  Plus this big red man named Santa Claus came over with presents.  I'm still too small to really understand and enjoy this holiday but I think in the future it will be one of my favorite.

And you won't believe this  --  few days after Christmas there is yet another holiday called New Years..  UNBELIEVABLE!

I really tried to stay awake for this holiday but it was very hard.  Mommy tricked me and caused me to fall asleep at 8pm but I was able to wake up a little while later.  I stayed awake for most of the party but missed the ball drop at midnight.  As mommy told me in the moring there's always next year and I can't wait!

First Thanksgiving - First Solid Meal

My First Thanksgiving

Wow this Thanksgiving holiday is awesome. I get to show what I am thankful for and eat as much as I want. We had a great feast yesterday, I had my very first taste of cereal. It was very interesting, at first I wasn't sure I liked it but then I couldn't get enough. (Although mom says a lot more made it on my bib than in my mouth!)

I'm not liking the Turkey bottom thing but Mom
thinks it's cute so I reluctantly comply

Mom learned from yesterday that plastic bibs

Recently, my parents announced my arrival.  Here is a copy of the announcement.  I only wish they didn't put the picture of me sticking my tongue out.  (There are those Yankees again, how did they know they are my favorite team!!)

Halloween Week

Last week I learned about this holiday called Halloween.  People dress up in costumes and go to houses looking for treats.  It's called Trick or Treating.   Since I have many people that love me I was given numerous Halloween outfits and costumes. Mom made the holiday last an entire week!!  She told me I'm too young for treats this year but we could dress in costumes and visit people.  Here are some pictures from my adventures last week.

Day 1: "Mommy's Monster" -While I look really peaceful in this picture I can be a real monster!

Day 2: "Mommy's Little Monster" - On this day I visited with Grandpa, Zjenjie, Aunt Angie, Uncle Paulie and Great Grandma Caltabiano

Day 3: "I'm so Cute it's Scary" - There's spooky stuff happening on this holiday, beware of black cats, I have one I know!

My First Bath

A strange thing happened today. My mommy and daddy took me into a room I had never been in before. It looked strange and there was the sound of running water. The next thing I knew, I was placed on a cusioned throne in a tub of warm water. I wasn't sure what was coming next, but did I ever like the warm water. Mommy rubbed me with a sudsy cloth and poured water on me. It was great. I didn't want it to end. I have decided I do not like coming out of a warm bath. I hope this is something that we do a lot. This was way better than that cloth bath they used to give me.
